Major Shia pilgrimage shrine on the Caspian coast south of Baku, over the tomb of Hukeyma Khatun, a descendant of the Prophet. Built originally in the 13th c. under the Shirvanshah Farrukhzad II ibn Akhsitan II. Demolished in 1936 under the Soviet anti-religious campaigns. Rebuilt 1994-98 as one of the first major post-independence Azerbaijani religious projects.
