Holy Saviour Cathedral (Ghazanchetsots)
Surb Amenaprkich Ghazanchetsots; Holy Savior Cathedral; Ghazanchetsots Cathedral, Shushi
Principal Armenian cathedral of Shushi. Struck twice by Azerbaijani precision-guided munitions on 8 October 2020, during the Second Karabakh War, in strikes condemned by Human Rights Watch as not justified by any military objective; the dome and roof were heavily damaged. After the city came under Azerbaijani control in November 2020, Azerbaijan undertook a "restoration" that, per Caucasus Heritage Watch, has stripped Armenian-language inscriptions and altered the silhouette of the dome, reframing the building as "Russian/Caucasian-Albanian" rather than Armenian.
