Gtchavank, or Gtich Vank, is a thirteenth-century Armenian monastery in the Togh/Hadrut area. Hadrut was captured by Azerbaijan during the 2020 war and did not remain inside the Russian peacekeeper-protected remnant. That made its Armenian monuments early indicators of post-2020 heritage practice. Caucasus Heritage Watch has reported the main structure standing but damage to surrounding cemetery or ancillary elements. The site matters because Hadrut was inside the Soviet-era NKAO, not merely an adjacent occupied district, so Armenian claims of local continuity are especially strong. As with other churches in Azerbaijani-controlled former Armenian areas, the central questions are physical integrity, treatment of khachkars, access and whether Armenian inscriptions are preserved or reframed.
