Spitak Khach Vank near Hadrut is a medieval Armenian monastery whose post-2020 condition has been monitored as part of the Hadrut heritage cluster. Hadrut's capture was symbolically important because it was inside the former NKAO, not one of the surrounding districts. Its churches and cemeteries therefore test Azerbaijan's claim that restored sovereignty can protect Armenian heritage inside historic Armenian communities. CHW has reported survival of the main monastery with concerns about damage to ancillary structures and removal of khachkars. The site is not only a monument but a displaced-community anchor: Hadrut Armenians cannot presently visit, worship or maintain it. Physical survival without community access remains an incomplete form of preservation.
