Funded by the philanthropist Nabat Khanum Rzayeva, designed by the Polish-Azerbaijani architect Ziver bey Ahmadbeyov in a synthesis of late Qajar and Khorasani styles. Closed under the Soviet 1930s anti-religious campaigns; reopened 1943; principal mosque of the Caucasian Muslims Office under the Soviet Union and post-1991 Azerbaijan.
