Zoravor Surb Astvatsatsin in Mehakavan/Jabrayil was an Armenian church in a district that had itself been emptied of Azerbaijanis during Armenian control after 1993. Its reported post-2020 destruction sits inside that double history: Azerbaijani return to a devastated district coincided with the removal of Armenian heritage produced or maintained during the occupation period. That does not make the church disposable. It shows how one community's restored sovereignty can endanger the other's material traces. The site belongs in the atlas precisely because it complicates clean moral maps. Jabrayil's Azerbaijani mosques and villages suffered under Armenian control; Armenian churches in the district have been vulnerable under Azerbaijani control. Both records are necessary for an honest heritage account.
