Three-tiered circular cathedral built under Catholicos Nerses III the Builder. One of the most ambitious monuments of pre-Arab-conquest Armenian architecture; collapsed in an earthquake around the year 1000 and never rebuilt. Excavated 1900-07; partial reconstruction of the lower walls is visible today. UNESCO World Heritage 2000.
