During the Israeli war on Gaza launched 7 October 2023, Azerbaijani crude continued to supply Israeli refineries via the BTC pipeline (Ceyhan to Ashkelon), reportedly accounting for approximately 30 to 40 percent of Israeli oil intake.

Azerbaijani oil has been a major component of Israeli supply since the BTC pipeline opened in 2006. Investigative reporting by Haaretz, +972 Magazine and other outlets documented continued large-scale shipments throughout 2023 to 2024 even as the Israeli conduct of the Gaza war was the subject of an ICJ genocide application by South Africa. The trade was uninterrupted by the contemporaneous 2023 ethnic cleansing of Karabakh.
