Largest Armenian Apostolic cathedral in the Middle East before 1915, with seven altars. Closed and used as a textile depot under the Republic; restored 2009-11 by the Diyarbakir Armenian community and the municipality. Damaged again in the 2015-16 Turkish military operations against the PKK in the old city of Diyarbakir; subsequently expropriated by Turkish state decree 2016. Partial reopening in 2022.
